Asilomar

Asilomar Conference Grounds

Nestled along the shoreline of California's famed Monterey Peninsula, Asilomar is a tranquil ocean front retreat cradled by forests and white sand beaches.  Asilomar (meaning "refuge by the sea" and pronounced a-SIL-o-mar) State Beach and Conference Grounds sits on 107 acres and offers overnight lodging and views of the forest, surf and sand. The objective of the Bioavailability 2010 conference is to discuss results of recent scientific research related to bioavailability of micronutrients. The format of the conference will be six half-day plenary sessions on bioavailability of minerals and trace elements, minor plant constituents and vitamins and pro-vitamins, methodology and setting of recommendations. There will also be poster sessions on these topics.

Conference themes will include:

  • The role of bioavailability when setting recommendations
  • Genetic/ individual influences on bioavailability
  • Biofortification
  • Bioavailability – applied studies and advances in methodology
